  • Jacey McDaniel, DVM - Owner

    Dr. Jacey grew up on a farm just outside of Sterling, KS and received an undergraduate degree in Biology from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS while playing basketball and running cross-country and track. She is a 2017 graduate from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Jacey is married to Sam McDaniel, a native of Scott City, KS.  They are the proud parents of Delaney Mae, born on October 2, 2018, and Emersyn Rae, born February 9, 2021.

  • Meredith Waggoner, DVM

    Dr. Meredith grew up in a suburb of Kansas City, KS. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology in 2016 at K-State. She then graduated in May 2020 from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Meredith is married to Toby Waggoner, a Quinter, KS native. They have one son, Timothy "Tucker," born on February 6, 2022. Dr. Meredith is our resident "cat lady" but also enjoys working with dogs, cattle, sheep, and goats. She can even occasionally be found working on a chicken or a pocket pet!

  • Dave Rethorst, DVM

    Dr. Dave is from Ashland, KS. He also completed his veterinary degree at K-State. Dr. Dave has been traveling out west to help us here at OVS since 2010.   He is our go-to for all things bovine and is usually out here two days per week.

    Registered Veterinary Technician
    Cassie was born and raised in Western Kansas.  She grew up on a family farm where she first discovered her love for animals.  Through those years she was active in 4-H and in the church.  After graduating from High School in 2002 she attended Colby Community College.  There she received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology in 2005.  She has been a Small Animal Technician at OVS since August 2005.  Since working here she has been privileged to continually learn more about Veterinary Medicine every day.  She enjoys living in the area with her husband Ben and their sons Colten, who they welcomed into the world in June 2012, and Clayton who was born in October 2014.  They also have 2 dogs, Petey and Ace.

    Joyce Baalman

    Practice Manager
    Joyce joined Oakley Veterinary Service in January of 2009.  She is a graduate of Grinnell High School and Dodge City Community College.  Joyce worked at Pioneer, Inc. for 15 years and was the Clerk of the Board for USD #291 in Grinnell for 15 years before coming to OVS.  She lives in Grinnell with her husband Rick and their dog Reeces, who also comes to work (whenever she feel like it).  Joyce and Rick have three children; Shannon and her husband Justin Foster, Allison and her husband Joel Polifka; and Devin Baalman.  She is the proud grandma of Jackson, Bryson, Cale, Karston, Alex and Emmitt.  In her spare time she loves spending time with her family, reading a great book, or working on her bucket list!

    Hannah is our newest full-time veterinary technician who joined us in May of 2021. She was born outside of Little River, KS and grew up on a family farm with cattle. She completed her Veterinary Nursing degree from Colby Community College in December of 2021.

    Full-Time Kennel Assistant
    Shelley grew up in Wallace & Scott City and graduated from Scott City High School. She now lives here in Oakley with her husband, Adam. Together they have 2 children, Mason and Abbygayl. Shelley loves spending time camping with her family and watching her kids play sports.

    Kennel Assistant
    Sarah is a senior this year at Oakley High School. She helps us with kennels after school during the week and on weekends. Sarah loves to ride horses and spend time with her family camping and tubing. She has a love for all animals, including her 3 horses, 1 goat, 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 4 rabbits!
